Frequently Asked Questions

If you are an individual, business or organization that serves parents during pregnancy, labor and early childhood, then you are welcome to place a listing with birthsearch.guru. Please understand, however, that your listing is open to reviews and that those reviews will stay or be removed completely at our discretion. We will consider any request to remove a review, but understand that proof of malice will need to be demonstrated in order to remove reviews. Any review that is obviously malignant will be removed on an ethical basis.

Only one listing is needed for you to be found. However, the user search is based mainly on location and service category (i.e. Midwife, Doula or OB…), so if you want people who are searching for one of your secondary services in your area (let’s say Childbirth education) to find you when they enter it into the search, then you will want a separate listing for each service you offer. With packages that cover most of your services and last for an entire year, you can advertise all of your services for less than two dollars per month.

After you submit your listing, it must be approved by an admin. We usually publish quickly, however, it may take up to 48 hours. We suggest editing your listing during this time, add pictures/logo, and really put as much information as you can in the description area to sell yourself.

The only other thing that may make it difficult to find your listing is if you did not put something in “Full Address”. If you are a service provider and do not want to give your exact address, use the Google tool and choose a location close to you, or the city in general, if you live in a smaller city. Then in the location selection area, if you do not see your city, choose the city nearest you. IMPORTANT – these are the two most important items if you wish to be found by location. If you want to be found by name or business name, make sure that is your listing title.

The Front page is designed for parents and new visitors, so the login area says “Join Now” This is the area where you will go to login each time.

If you are using mobile, look for the three horizontal bars, that opens a menu where you will see “Join Now” and “Add a Listing”

Your dashboard is your command center for your listings and your account. Change your profile, edit your listing, run an ad, you can do all this and more in your dashboard.

To get to your dashboard (you cannot access the dashboard on mobile), Login to the system and look for your username in the upper righthand corner, next to the “Add a Listing” button. Hover over your username and the dropdown menu will give you the choice to logout, edit your profile or go to your dashboard. Click on dashboard and you will be taken to your command center.

Normally, you will choose a paid package, fill our your listing, and be sent to review your listing after submitting. On the review page there should be two buttons, one to edit your listing, the other to pay and publish. Choose the “pay and publish” button and you will be directed to checkout. Click on the little circle next to the package you picked as well as the circle next to paypal and submit, you will be redirected to Paypal.

If for some reason, you did not follow this process, you should be able to find the unpublished listing in your dashboard, where you can select “Pay and Publish”.

To edit your listing you will first need to login and navigate to your dashboard. If your listing is published you will need to look for it on the lefthand sidebar under “published” listings and conversely, if it is unplublished, there is a tab for that on the left as well.

Once you see your listing, you will see a button next to it that says “edit”, click on that and away you go…

We believe that the review system will be the most important facet of birthsearch.guru. Much like Yelp or other listing engines, we believe that this will become the first website that will paint a portrait of the current birth and parenting paradigms in the US and beyond, while offering parents a place to actually get some real information and thoughts on the options available to them (something ¬†that isn’t common dialogue for most people).

Due to this position, here is our basic protocol for reviews:

Please understand that your listing is open to reviews and that those reviews will stay or be removed completely at our discretion. We will consider any request to remove a review, but understand that proof of malice will need to be demonstrated in order to remove reviews. Any review that is obviously malignant will be removed on an ethical basis.

Ad promotions are available through your dashboard.
